The seemingly futility of helping the abused

We often hear the comparison of South Africans under the Marxist terrorist ANC to that of a woman in an abusing relationship. Some even call it the Battered woman syndrome where a wife, despite years of abuse, stay with the abusive husband or even the Stockholm syndrome where hostages not only develop a psychological alliance with their captors during captivity, but basically fall in love with them.

It is often difficult for a sane mind to grasp the psychology of the victims of atrocity. Even more difficult is it to try and help. Often the sane person’s attempts to help are ignored, beaten down as unwanted by the abusee or he is openly attacked and told to stay out of it.

In 2014 I actually wrote an article about this condition/phenomenon.

In there you can read how I refer to Dr Martin Seligman’s experiments with dogs who cannot escape electrical shocks and who simply accept their fate.

You will also see how I mention ten reasons (fears) people usually put forward as to why they cannot do anything towards their fate in South Africa…just like the battered woman spends all her energy on trying to justify her decision to stay with her abusing husband, instead of using that same energy to escape the cycle of abuse.

Just like with Seligman’s dogs who have accepted their fate, they do not even try to escape, even if the gate is left open and they are presented with a means to escape.

However, Seligman’s experiments show that some dogs who were originally freer and not tied down, did indeed escape and would forever try to escape if abused. They would NEVER accept their fate as being abused. Exactly so, some women also eventually escape abusive relationships and some whites also escape the ANC through emigration, but many stay.

Squad Cohesion

For those who have been to the military it is easy to recognize another phenomenon amongst white South Africans. That of Squad Cohesion. Suffering together; suffering in silence. “Vasbyt-en-hou-op-kla” syndrome.

These are the people who later on in life will look back to their “swaarkry” army days with nostalgia and say, “You know what?.. it was not all that bad. We had good times too.”

Speak to people who lived in the old GDR (Communist East Germany) and you will soon hear, “You know, it was not all that bad. We had good times too.”

These people often do not realise what happened to them, the trauma they went through and the social identity problems they developed.

For soldiers their group cohesiveness can cause them to exclude others that did not go through what they went through and can prevent them from fitting back into normal civvie-life and forming normal meaningful family relationships.

This is the same reason why you still see, thirty years after German re-unification that east and west Germans still have distinct social identities and difficulties integrating into a normal common German society.

“You did not go through what we went through so you are not one of us and cannot talk along”.

One sees the same phenomenon with the whites of South Africa when someone from overseas, like an expat or foreigner, tries to help White South Africans. “Who is he/she? They don’t know South Africans. They are not one of us. They are not even in South Africa. They left long ago. They don’t know what is going on anymore…”etc. and so forth.

You cannot help those who do not want to be helped…

…or cannot help themselves.

Those helping abused women, alcoholics and drug addicts know about the five stages people go through before they eventually leave. From not even being aware that there is a problem, to planning and actually acting. They also know that there are many relapses, returning and starting over.

This makes it difficult for those trying to help to stay. Often one gets desponded, retracts and says…”Nature must take its course.I wash my hands”

Que sera, sera...whatever will be must be.

What about those on a path to suicide?

It is the same. When you look at Europeans and Westerners in general and their policies of uncontrolled immigration, then it is hard for the sane mind to grasp how people can willingly march towards their own suicide and doom.

The problem is, do you try to help? Do you try to talk them out of it? Do you try to convince them to turn around 180°? Or do you simply say, “Que sera, sera...whatever will be must be.”

It becomes very easy for a person trying to help to decide to rather be a fly on the wall and witness the demise from a distance and above.

Besides, who am I? What difference can one man make to the accepted fate of the lemmings marching towards the cliff?

Sarrazin, Spengler and Laplace’s Demon

Thilo Sarrazin

In 2010, the leftist German politician Thilo Sarrazin caused a stir with his book, “Deutschland schafft sich ab- wie wir unser Land aufs Spiel setzen”, (Germany Abolishes Itself: How we're putting our country in jeopardy).

The book was a bestseller and #1 in Germany for 21 weeks selling 1.5 million copies.

Sarrazin, being a leftist Social Democrat, did not have anything against uncontrolled Muslim immigration into Germany per se, his problem was that these people do not integrate and assimilate into German society, run a parallel society, and two thirds of them are on welfare benefits. Sarrazin argued that if uncontrolled Islamic immigration continued, Germany would, over time, become a predominantly Muslim country.

Of course, the same can be said for the rest of Europe and the rest of the Western World.

Spengler

This was not the first time a German predicted “the end of Germany as we know it.” About a hundred years ago, German historian, mathematician and philosopher Oswald Spengler predicted the same for the West with his classic, “Der Untergang des Abendlandes” , The Decline of the West

Spengler saw civilisations holistically and like a process similar to a living organism’s birth. infancy, maturity, old age and eventual death. Each stage last about 200 years and a civilisation about 1000 years.

To illustrate his point, Spengler used several cultures ranging from the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Greek/Roman civilisation, the Mayan/Astecs civilisations, etc…

According to Spengler, The West is in decline. It reached its pinnacle in the 19th century and we are currently in the last of the Winter stage of Western Civilisation.

Critics and supporters of Spengler

Critics of Spengler are few. Ironically, Spengler has as many supporters amongst the Left as he has on the Right.

The right sees it as proof to wake up and do something to prevent the decline of the West and the Left sees it as fate to be accepted. One of Spengler’s biggest supporters was the Frankfurt School Communist, Theodor Adorno…who wanted people to act as if Spengler’s prophesies were gospel truth.

The Prophesy Paradox

Herein lies the problem for the right. If the decline of the West is as inevitable as Spengler predicted, then why bother saving it? Why not just sit back like the fly on the wall and watch it go down? Don’t help. Don’t interfere.

Of course, this is exactly how the Left wants the Right to act.

This is the same kind of reasoning in South Africa with the Christian whites and their Biblical prophecy of Revelations.

What is the point of trying to fight Evil, if it is all going to pan out like the Bible says anyway and come to a head at Armageddon? Why even bother praying? “Die hemelse Vader sal ons red”.

Why bother trying to stop farm murders with patrols, alerting the UN, etc? Why try fighting the ANC in court with cases against Expropriation without compensation, BEE, corruption, misrule, theft, etc? It is all going to come to a head at “The night of the long knives” anyway…exactly like Siener van Rensburg said. Just sit still, be a fly on the wall and do nothing. Never protest. Never demonstrate. The quicker it happens the better and the sooner we will have our New Boer Republic.

All I know is, that sitting back like the fly on the wall and doing nothing about it is exactly the way the Communists want us to act.

Fatalism and determinism vs Free Will

Ironically, as one of my friends pointed out to me, this belief in pre-determination is exactly the vector that drives the tree huggers and global warming fanatics. “The world is going to end and we are all going to die”.

So why bother doing anything about it? Why not just be the fly on the wall? As my friend said…We laugh at them and they laugh at us.

Unfortunately, Spengler’s theory does not always hold true.
